No Doubt About It

None of us are immune to doubt. We all face it.
  • Doubt is not the opposite of Faith. Unbelief is the opposite of Faith.
  • However, if you don't deal with your doubts it can lead to unbelief.
  • Unbelief can lead to sin. "Whatever is not of faith is sin." (Romans 14:23)

Doubt must be recognized. We first have to admit that we're having doubts before we can remedy the doubts. Of course, there are reasons for doubt and results that linger when we don't deal with it rapidly.

John the Baptist had his own share of doubts when he sent his disciples to ask Jesus, "Are You the one or should we look for another?" John had doubts - not about his salvation - but doubts due to his circumstances.

There are reasons for doubt:

  • Circumstances
  • Expectations not met
  • Ministry potential not achieved.
  • Mistrust of people

Sure, we can look at John the Baptist and point our religious finger in his face and say "John, how could you doubt Jesus? Aren't you the one who declared Him to be the 'Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world?'"

But before we do, who among us has never doubted since we came to faith? I know I have. Even in my doubts, God's assurance broke through my unsetteledness.
