Don't Be A Slippery Saint

“Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them SLIP.” Hebrews‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭
Don’t become a person who is slippin’-n-slidin’, peepin’-n-hidin’.
• Sin in our heart will separate us from the righteousness of God.
• Sin in our heart will cause us to start “slippin” down a slippery slope.
• When we began to “slip”, we already know that our heart is pulling away from God’s will for our life. No one has to tell us. However, people close to us will see it.
• Slippin’ will keep us out of church.
• Slippin’ will cause us to make excuses for our lifestyle, behavior & absences.
• Slippin’ will cause you to want to avoid people who are walking in the faith.
• Slippin’ can happen to anyone who has become distracted with the cares of this life.
~ Don’t be a slippery saint!
~ Get right with God.
~ Do right.
~ Live right.
~ Hold tight to righteousness.
~ Live a sold-out life to God.
~ Quit making excuses for sin & laziness.
~ Line up with the word.
~ Stop frustrating the grace of God.
~ If you mess up. Repent. Pick yourself up & get back to where you know should be.
~ God loves you.
~ He wants more for you & your family.
~ He’s provided a way.
~ Don’t backslide!
~ Don’t let the truth of God’s character slip from your thoughts!

6 Things About Leadership

1. Leaders can't drive the horse & hangout in the wagon, if they’re going to reach their destiny.
2. It is not enough to surround yourself with intelligent people, if they lack spiritual stability.
3. Ultimately, you can’t always control whether you succeed or fail, or even if you’re celebrated or condemned for what you do. What we can control is the genuineness of our efforts!
4. Leaders give up the right to make excuses.
5. Nothing more frustrating & even nauseating than carnal mindsets trying to dictate spiritual direction. It doesn’t work like that. The gods of this world can never dictate Yahweh’s voice!
6. God planted Moses in leadership but birthed him in servitude. If you aren’t serving...you aren’t leading. If you won’t serve anyone but yourself...you’ll never lead anyone but yourself.

5 Things For Friday

5 THINGS FOR FRIDAY
1. Be determined to provide the spiritual stability for your children that you may not have received yourself.
2. Don’t be lazy. Get up. Work. Worship. Witness. Win.
3. Stop making excuses for yourself. Stop blaming people for your situation. Stop being offended at the church because you feel they let you down. Stop that mess.
4. Do right. Pray till you pray through. Repent more than you rebuke. Love like Jesus loves.
5. Determine to be faithful & fruitful. Stay under a covering. Be loyal. Be committed. Be tenacious in your purpose. Dream big. Show up. Be on time. Be early. Encourage someone with your presence.

10 Things About Excuses

If I hear one more person complain or make an excuse about not coming to church...

1. You can't depend on people who cling to EXCUSES to justify their right to fail. Explanations are poor substitutes for results.

2. The willing find a way. The unwilling find an EXCUSE. God creates ways for the willing & the unwilling create their own excuses!

3. Stop making EXCUSES for friends & family members who insist on being mean to people. Don't say "they mean well." Say "they need help."

4. Stop making EXCUSES for letting insanely selfish people back into your life. They destroy all of you just to enjoy a part of you!

5. Eliminate EXCUSES & failure has no leg to stand on!

6. Stop making EXCUSES to miss Church tonight! Satan uses a tactic called "Isolation for Elimination." Gather with other burning hearts & blaze! Go to church!

7. Don't miss Church tonight! Much of what God does in our lives, He does by "the hearing of Faith." You can't just read. You must hear! #StopMakingExcuses

8. Right now, as you're feeling isolated & alone people at your Church miss you & are praying for you. #StopMakingExcuses

9. Instead of saying, "no one from the church has checked on me." How about say to yourself, "why have I been missing in the first place & then trying to blame them for my absence? They're still there doing what they've always been doing." #StopMakingExcuses

10. Don't miss church over someone else's offense. Let them work it out. You go to church! #StopMakingExcuses

Get Out of Excuseville

Are you the kind of person who always finds excuses for everything?

When we constantly make excuses, it causes others to laughingly refer to us as "Mr. Undependable"!  Regardless of how well respected we may be in other aspects of our life - professional, personal and family - if we're always making excuses...a negative reputation is bound to develop.

You know your excuses are an issue, when people have to confront you about it...even in a joking manner.  Sadly, people may not seem to respect or trust you because you're known as the person who breaks promises, places blame on others or doesn't accept responsibility for their commitments.

REALIZE - We have power over excuse making.  We have the power to break this habit!
  • People who constantly make excuses develop a reputation that they can't be counted on.
  • Their friends and colleagues tend to view them as the last person they can ask a favor from.

DEAL WITH IT - Your friends and family have stopped accepting your explanations at face value...so should you. Deal with it today.
  • Determine to stop making excuses now.
  • Be on time.
  • Be faithful.
  • Be fruitful.

KNOW YOUR LIMITS - If you commit to only taking on tasks that you can actually accomplish, you won't be tempted to later account for your failings.

  • Know your time restraints ahead of time.
  • Don't feel forced to take on a project if you know you'll end up laying the blame on others when you fall short.

BE HONEST - Excuse making is as stressful as lying, because you have to remember exactly what you have told various people.
  • Excuse makers end up embellishing the facts to cast themselves in a better light.  In turn, this makes your family, friends and colleagues uncomfortable.
  • Avoid long winded explanations.
  • Admit your mistakes without hiding behind fictitious reasons.

TEAM UP - Make a pact with a friend who has the same excuse making problem.  Agree to point it out if you see them returning to their old ways and have them commit to doing the same with you.
  • Getting help from others is healthy!
  • Investing your energy into finding solutions, instead of creating justifications will catapult you further.

BOTTOM LINE - There is no excuse for living in EXCUSEVILLE.  We are responsible for making good choices in life.  We're entitled to choose to find excuses for ourselves, to blame other people and to sound paranoid.  But, we'll be happier and healthier if we opt for honesty, integrity and confidence.
