Don't Be Too Hard On Yourself

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Leadership can be difficult at times.
With any ministry, business or organization, you realize that people don’t always do what you expect; they do what you inspect.
Remember, when you become entrenched in your purpose, there will always be challenges that attempt to interrupt the rhythm of your life.
If we become intentionally proactive rather than reactive, we can help restore order to our “everydayness.”
No one, besides Jesus, ever got it 100% all the time. No one. So cut yourself some slack. If you’re breathing, you’re not done.
Pray more. Clear your mind of the mental clutter. You can’t allow your thoughts to be consumed with other people’s disrespect, dishonor or disregard...no matter how much you’ve sown into them.
You’ll find that most people are selective & selfish to the core. They seek to benefit & applaud themselves, rather than practice reciprocity.
But don’t let someone else’s internal issues or immaturity hinder you from being kind, trusting, giving & good natured. Keep leading!
Get up & fulfill your purpose with passion! 👊🏽 #ROOM

Serving The Way Jesus Did

“I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭13:15‬ ‭
Jesus washed the feet of those He called to carry His message...even the one who would betray Him. Jesus modeled humility. He taught us to humble ourselves & serve one another in love.
You cannot HONOR one another without HUMILITY.
I’ll never forget this past Father’s Day...when the men of @bfwcindy #fightclub washed my feet & said, “We have you surrounded in strength & we are here to serve.” Tears were flowing & my heart overwhelmed at this display of Christlikeness.
Every pastor needs an army of men & women around them who are committed to the Gospel of Jesus with Red Hot PASSION! It’s an honor to serve & lead people who have counted the cost to take up the CROSS.
May we serve others the same way Jesus served His disciples.

Your Slip Is Showing

When we stay in continual prayer, bible study, fasting, praise/worship & Christian fellowship...we can bust out of any "funk" that is trying to ensnare us. Your pastor can't do it for you (i.e., spouse, boss, etc.) YOU have to made a decision to RESET your thoughts.

Philippians 4:8 "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."

Philippians 4:9 "Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you."

When you RENEW your MIND, you'll RENEW your PASSION for Jesus. However, if you stay focused on everything except HIM...you'll DRIFT further away from your FIRST LOVE all together & be AIMLESS & ENERGYLESS.

STAY FOCUSED so you don't SLIP! Good TEACHING will KEEP you!
Hebrews 2:1 "Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip."

Geography can't fix you.A new this or that can't fix you.Only JESUS can fix you.But you have to let Him.

Refuse To Ration Your Passion!

It is important to find the areas you are passionate about & stay focused on them.

John Wesley said, “When you set yourself on fire, people love to come & watch you burn.” This is what happens when a leader has passion. The leader starts gaining more influence with others & people want to be a part of what’s going on. If you want to raise your influence, then you need to be passionate in your pursuits.

When you're passionate about your dreams & vision you'll have little time, if any, to be focused on squabbles, drama or other people's business. You'll be so utterly consumed with today & tomorrow that you won't have extra energy or desire to look back, look around or look down.

For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I SET MY FACE LIKE A FLINT, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. (Isaiah 50:7 KJV)

Where there is no VISION....people, programs, passions & purposes PERISH!

Maintaining status quo is a sure indicator of a visionless leader whose myopic vision can only see five feet ahead.

Keep your eyes on the horizon & run forward with unbridled energy! That energy will catapult you over every hurdle & hindrance you encounter!

Choose to run passionately after your God size dreams! God gave them to you because He believes in you!

What if...

Well...college football officially kicked off this past weekend.  I've heard guys talking about this for the past couple of weeks.  NFL is great...but college football is another animal.  Ladies, good luck trying to pull your husband's from the front of the TV on Saturday's during college football season.

Football is one of my favorite sports!  Game days are memory making moments!  You get to the game early enough to grab some junk food and breathe in the smell of excitement!  You usually run into some people you know and you catch up with one another.

What I love about the atmosphere in the stadium is that there are TONS of people who are just as passionate about football there!  They SCREAM, YELL, GET THERE EARLY, STAY UNTIL WAY AFTER THE GAME...all because they are passionate about football!

That's the PASSION everyone of us need to bring to church!
  • What if everyone in the church was as passionate about JESUS?  We tend to be more excited to see players who don't even know we exist than JESUS the one who knows every HAIR ON OUR HEAD.
  • What if people were just as INTENTIONAL about arriving to Church before the service started as fans are when it comes to arriving to a football game before it starts?
  • What if people were just as excited when a church service went into "OVERTIME" as fans are when they get to see the game continue?
  • What if people in the church celebrated as loud as people at the games do when their team scores?
  • What if people were as passionate about telling others about JESUS...just as passionate as a fan who went to a game and saw an incredible performance?
  • What if people at church could learn to enjoy the EXPERIENCE of worship with hundreds of other worshippers and not worry about who knows who - they do this at football games every week!
On a side note - it's rather hypocritical of person who will go to a football game and not get mad because Tony Dungee didn't come speak to them - but they will go to a church service the next day and get mad if their pastor doesn't speak to them.

Say this with me....YOUR PASSION LEADS TO ACTION!

You don't have to ask a football fan what their passionate about...it just comes out!  And the same can be said about Jesus!  If we are PASSIONATE...it shows!  HE will subdue our thoughts and our actions...and we will GO ALL OUT to serve Him!

One of the things that I love about BFWC is that we have some awesome JESUS FANS here!  People are coming early to "TAIL GATE" in the Connections Cafe before services!  People are inviting their friends.  We love to WORSHIP and CELEBRATE...and it's not about the pastor knowing the people...but it's about the people KNOWING JESUS!

Say this with me again...PASSION LEADS TO ACTION!

BFWC, if we remain passionate we'll not only IMPACT Central Indiana but our entire state!  By the way, if you don't think you serve a God that is big enough to reach the entire state of Indiana then He's not a God worth serving!  MY God can...and He WILL - through a church who is PASSIONATE for Him!
